Far Infrared Therapy and Detoxification (Video)

When researching the benefits of far infrared therapy the topic you come across most often is detoxification. There must be thousands of different ways to detox and rid your body of toxins and one of the more effective methods is through sweating.

Here is what the medical dictionary on http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/detoxification has to say about it:

“Detoxification is one of the more widely used treatments and concepts in alternative medicine. It is based on the principle that illnesses can be caused by the accumulation of toxic substances (toxins) in the body. Eliminating existing toxins and avoiding new toxins are essential parts of the healing process. Detoxification utilizes a variety of tests and techniques.”

And further:

“…Sweating therapies can also detoxify the body because the skin is a major organ of elimination. Sweating helps release those toxins that are stored in the subcutaneous (under the skin) fat cells…”

The reason why a good infrared sauna is so effective in causing the body to generate sweat is because the far infrared light warms up the body directly. As the body warms up, it reacts and tries to cool itself down via the process of sweating. Because the air temperature in a far infrared sauna is a lot lower than in a traditional sauna, sessions are longer, and this of course results in more sweating.

The video below features Dr. Connealy MD, talking about the benefits of far infrared therapy. In the last part of the video, she also talks about the symptoms and conditions that may benefit from far infrared treatment.
