The benefits and advantages of owning an infrared home sauna are well known and more and more people take the decision to invest in infrared saunasone of these to improve their health and quality of life.

However, finding reliable and understandable advice about the difference in quality, price and safety of the different products that are out there is not easy. An endless list of infrared sauna sites can be found on the internet but the information offered is often contradicting and biased to say the least.

Our part in London 2012 Olympics

Last week, while we were visiting the Health Mate European headquarters in Antwerp, we received an email from Jon Brown, the coach of the Canadian Olympic Triathlon team. He asked us if his athletes could use one of Health Mate’s infrared therapy cabins during their three week stay in London. The Canadian Olympic Triathlon team use infrared therapy as part of their training regime to boost blood plasma volume and need to continue the therapy in the run up to the 2012 Olympics. (more…)

Infrared Therapy and Rheumatoid Arthritis

In July 2008 researchers  – Fredrikus G. J. Oosterveld , Johannes J. Rasker, Mark Floors, Robert Landkroon, Bob van Rennes, Jan Zwijnenberg, Mart A. F. J. van de Laar and Gerard J. Koel – published an article in the Journal of Clinical Rheumatology in association with the International League of Associations for Rheumatology. The title of the article was “Infrared sauna in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis”

The goal of the study was to investigate the effects of infrared (IR) Sauna, a form of total-body hyperthermia in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and ankylosing spondylitis (AS). (more…)
